How preconception, infertility & family planning is tested
Written for DHA, SMLE, DOH, QCHP, OMSB, MOH, NHRA and Kuwait MOH — the same GP licensing mix, not a preconception, infertility & family planning specialist paper.
Contraception items use WHO medical eligibility. Infertility is a timed workup, not immediate IVF. Folic acid is the preconception mark they still give away.
Match the method to migraine with aura, VTE, postpartum and breastfeeding. Emergency contraception is a time window. IUDs have insertion infection and perforation as complications, not morality lectures.
Infertility: semen analysis, ovulation, tubes. WHO ovulation categories appear. IVF is a later step unless age or a named indication jumps the queue.
Migraine with aura — which method is wrong?
Combined hormonal contraception is usually MEC 4. Progestin-only and copper IUD remain on the table.
When is semen analysis first?
Early. Do not put the woman through a year of tests while never checking the partner.
Folic acid dose in a well woman?
Standard preconception dose unless she has a high-risk indication (prior NTD, some drugs) that needs the higher dose the stem is fishing for.
